Emma Eckert grew up in rural Northern New Mexico, spending her early years playing amidst the dusty fractal patterns of the arroyo drainage systems. From a young age, a love of nature and inquiry-based learning helped her develop a keen interest in science, particularly in the areas of biology and geology.
She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Science Education in 2006 and spent several years teaching in the Albuquerque Public School system.
Emma has been a fan of the Fractal Foundation for quite some time and was thrilled to accept a position as the New Mexico Education Director in March 2016. In addition to influencing her teaching, fractals also provide inspiration for her art and photography. Emma loves to share her passion for fractals with students of all ages!
