Teacher Professional Development

The Fractal Institute

The Fractal Foundation is very excited to have recently completed our first in-depth professional development workshops for APS elementary teachers.

Thanks to a grant from the NM Public Education Department’s Math & Science Bureau, we were able to provide 30 elementary teachers with 8 hours of training in using exciting fractal-based activities to teach their students math and science standards.  See the Fractivities page for examples.

We are currently seeking funding to be able to offer more professional development workshops for elementary teachers, and we plan to develop similar programs for middle school and high school teachers as well. Stay tuned!

I am very interested in teacher professional development from your foundation. I have recently been researching and implementing math, science and technology into my junior high art curriculum. I am looking to these subjects to engage the digital native students that are emerging in our classrooms.

Please check back for future updates as we plan to offer this same Fractal Institute for teachers outside the Albuquerque area. We’ll also be developing fractal-based professional development for middle school and high school teachers too!
